A special program will take place on Saturday, March 24th 2012. Entitled, “Genealogy in a Museum”, it will begin at 10 AM at the Baxter Springs, Kansas Heritage Center Museum, located at Eighth and East Avenue. The event is also open, free of charge, to the public and all are welcome to attend. Those taking part will learn how to use the holdings of a museum’s historical collections and archives while conducting their family history research. One of the most often overlooked research tools can be the holdings of a museum or heritage society. Therefore, an understanding of such facilities and collections can be very helpful to the researcher. This distinctive program should prove very helpful to the genealogist or family historian. Everyone is encouraged to tour this excellent museum.
For further information email the society or phone President Luretta Williams at 918-533-8964 or Fredrea Cook at 918-542-4148. If there is enough interest carpooling will be arranged.
