A mighty oak tree grew in the First National Bank Community room during the monthly meeting of the Ottawa County Genealogy Society in January. The program spotlighted ancestors of many members and guests as they recorded their family information on special hangers to decorate the tree. With over fifteen in attendance, the first business meeting of 2012 went smoothly. Upon adjournment, everyone enjoyed refreshments provided by the elected officers.
The February meeting of the Ottawa County Genealogy Society will be held in the library computer lab, administration building, Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Campus (200 I Street NE, Miami, OK), Monday February 20, 2012. The group will take the elevator from the lobby at 6:00 PM and conduct a brief business meeting upon settling into the lab. A hands-on, guided tour of several online genealogy resources that are free of charge will follow. Attendees may bring their own wireless laptop or appliance, if preferable. The meeting is open to the public. Contact a member, the society at ocgsok@gmail.com or Luretta Williams, President at 918-533-8964.
