Ottawa County Genealogical Society will meet on President’s Day: Monday, February 18th, at the First National Bank Community Room, 1749 North Main Street, Miami, Oklahoma.  The genealogical society, now in its’ 38th year, is renewing the commitment to the collection and preservation of family history, as well as the objectives the organization was founded on.

Published author, illustrator, free-lance photographer, family historian and webmaster, Carrie Ann Cook, Wyandotte, will conduct a tour of the new society website. With her appointment as webmaster in January, she carried out the wishes of the membership in establishing the domain of ottawacountygenealogy.com for the society. While the new site is fairly small, this meeting will give her the opportunity to show those in attendance around the new site and seek input from members. Many ideas for OCGS website have been discussed in the past and this program will be the first opportunity for attendees to weigh in on the accommodation of the new website to meet those goals and tie in with other OCGS efforts online.

Cook holds an Associate of Arts and Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and is a graduate of the National Institute of Genealogical Research.  Miss Cook lectured and taught genealogy, writing and computer classes across the country for several years.  She also serves as webmaster for assorted genealogical, lineal and business websites.

Refreshments will be served at 6:00 p.m., with Shirley Ratliff, Miami, serving as hostess.   Assistance will be available for those who may need research help.  The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by the program.  The public is invited to attend all or part of the evening’s activities.
